Weather Impact Alert Day: Heat index values to reach between 107 and 111 degrees

Heat index values will be much of the same as it was on Thursday, as the National Weather Service has issued another local heat advisory.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The First Coast's Most Accurate Weather Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert Day for Friday.

WHEN: Friday, Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. will be the highest impacts

IMPACT: The entire First Coast is under a heat advisory from the National Weather Service, meaning heat index values will reach between 107 and 111 degrees during the 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. time range. This is actually an hour earlier than yesterday and it is very humid this morning already, so impacts will be felt earlier and longer.

NEED: Hydrate, find cool spots to take breaks. Extended exposure to the heat could lead to heat-related illnesses.

If you need a cooling center, Jacksonville makes all public libraries and community centers available Monday through Saturday.

If you live in Jacksonville and would like to take a dip in a pool, the city has 28 community pools open to the public.
