JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Florida and Georgia residents are preparing for a second major hurricane to make landfall, as powerful Category 5 Hurricane Milton intensifies in the Gulf of Mexico.

Milton's landfall will come mere weeks after Hurricane Helene ravaged Florida's Big Bend region, bringing flooding concerns and widespread power outages to the First Coast.

Some Northeast Florida counties are under a Hurricane Warning as Milton eyes the state's Gulf Coast, with several others under a Tropical Storm Warning.
