JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As Milton approaches, here are the updates we are aware of for trash collection. We will update as more updates are released.
Northeast Florida
St. Johns County
St. Johns County residents who have their household solid waste collected on Thursday, will have it collected on Friday. And resident who have it collected on Friday, will have it collected on Saturday.
St. Johns County recycling collection will be suspended through Friday, but will resume normal operations next week (the week of Oct. 14, 2024).
Residents may bring household solid waste, yard waste and storm debris to the Tillman Ridge and Stratton Road Transfer Stations, free of charge; the two transfer stations will reopen on Friday.
The city of St. Augustine will collect only yard and storm debris on Friday and Saturday; the city will not collect recycling on Friday.
The city of St. Augustine Beach will resume solid waste collection services on Friday.
Clay County
There will not be garbage or yard waste collection on Thursday. Thursday’s routes will be picked up on Friday, and Friday’s routes will be picked up on Saturday.
Disaster debris vendors will not be picking up debris on Wednesday.
The Rosemary Hill Solid Waste Management Facility will open on Wednesday and will close when conditions become unsafe.
The Clay County Outdoor Adventure Park, which was handling citizen vegetative debris drop-off, is closed until further notice.
Duval County
Some yard trash collections are behind schedule due to the heavy volume of materials generated from Hurricane Helene; extra crews are working to catch up, but the county is asking for patience.
All garbage, yard trash and recycling curbside collections are suspended on Thursday. The county is asking that no one put out containers for Thursday. These collections are postponed until Saturday.
Friday curbside collections are anticipated to occur as normally scheduled. Yard trash collections are also expected to resume Friday and will continue until all debris from Helene and Milton are removed.
Nassau County
For the city of Fernandina Beach, due to landfill closures, trash pickup is canceled for Wednesday. All schedules will be p ushed back one day.
Columbia County
Columbia County is asking that residents place debris on the right of way and work crews will be by as soon as possible.
Putnam County
Palatka crews will collect yard debris from curbside until noon on Wednesday. On Thursday, all residential garbage collection will be suspended. On Friday, weather conditions permitting, residential garbage collection will resume, with crews collecting from customers, who are usually serviced on Thursday. On Saturday, Oct. 12, city crews will collect residential garbage from customers usually serviced on Friday.
Flagler County
The city of Bunnell says solid waste paste pickups will all depend on road conditions across the city. If possible, the earliest yard waste would start be picking up would be late Friday morning. Remember, yard waste and other debris must be kept in separate piles and should not be placed near any type of obstruction including wires, cars, mailboxes, garbage cans, fire hydrants, ground utility pedestals, etc.
Southeast Georgia
Camden County
Both MSW and C&D landfills will remain open on Wednesday, but will be closed Thursday. They are expected to reopen on Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The curbside collections office will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday and will reopen on Friday. Thursday collections will be made Friday & Friday collections will be made Saturday.
For the city of Kingsland, waste collection will occur as normal on Wednesday, then pause Thursday and resume on Friday. Thursday sanitation collection route will occur on Friday and Friday collections will be made on Saturday, weather permitting.
For the city of St. Marys and Woodbine, waste collection will occur as normal as Wednesday and collections will pause on Thursday and will resume normal operations on Friday. Thursday collection routes will be made on Friday and Friday collections will be made on Saturday.
