JSO: Woman dead after being hit by three separate vehicles in Northwest Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says two of the vehicles stayed at the scene and are cooperating with detectives; a white vehicle fled the scene.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman is dead after she was hit by three separate vehicles in Northwest Jacksonville Monday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO's Sergeant Hungerford says at approximately 8:40 p.m., the woman in her mid-30s was walking in the roadway in the 4900 block of Soutel Drive. He says a sedan was traveling southbound and struck her.

Police say the impact threw the woman into a northbound lane where she was struck by an SUV in the inside lane. That impact then threw the woman into the outside lane "where a white possibly 4-door vehicle ran over the female," according to Hungerford.

JSO says the drivers of the sedan and SUV stopped at the scene and are cooperating with traffic homicide detectives, as "there are no indicators of impairment."

The driver of the white vehicle fled the scene in a northern direction, police say. JSO did not release the identity of the woman.

"If anyone has information about that hit-and-run vehicle or driver, we encourage them to call JSO at 904-630-0500 or contact First Coast CrimeStoppers at 866-845-TIPS and they may be eligible for a cash reward," Hungerford told First Coast News. "This is the 43rd traffic fatality in Duval County and the 12th involving a pedestrian.
