JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Update: The woman has been identified as Valondia Norris, 43, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office told First Coast News on Tuesday.
A woman died Monday morning after she was shot multiple times in an apartment complex's parking lot in Jacksonville's Arlington area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
JSO's Sergeant Rudlaff says at approximately 11 a.m., officers responded to Gregory Cove Apartments, located at 5601 Edenfield Rd., in reference to the woman who was shot. He says there were several calls made to the sheriff's office, reporting gunfire in the area.
"At this time, we do not know the circumstances of the incident or the relationship between those involved," Rudlaff said. "We are not sure if this is an isolated incident and/or not, and we do not know if there's additional threats to the community."
Rudlaff says witnesses heard a car leaving the area "right after the shooting." He also says detectives are currently canvassing the area to possibly obtain surveillance video.
