JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — One person is dead and multiple apartment units' roofs at an apartment complex on Jacksonville's Southside are damaged after a fire broke out Friday morning.
The fire started at 3:45 a.m., as the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department says it was a 2-alarm fire. It happened at the Lake Crest Condos.
Crews attacked the fire from outside and inside of one of the apartment buildings, according to JFRD Captain Eric Prosswimmer. He says it took crews an hour to put it out and no firefighters were injured.
JFRD did not release the identify of the person who died, as the cause of the fire is being investigated.
