JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead after he was shot multiple times in the Brentwood area of Jacksonville Friday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
JSO's Sergeant Lessard says at approximately 8:15 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of West 28th Street and upon arrival, they found the unidentified, injured man.
Next, Lessard says the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department was called to the scene and when first responders arrived, they pronounced the man dead.
JSO says crime scene and homicide detectives, as well as the State Attorney's Office, were on scene after the shooting and are currently conducting an investigation.
"At this early stage of the investigation, we are working quickly to positively identify the victim as well as talking with people to identify potential witnesses that may have information regarding this shooting," Lessard told First Coast News.
