One hospitalized, two killed in three separate overnight shootings in Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the shootings happened Wednesday night, all within a span of three hours, as each is unrelated to another.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — One person was hospitalized and two people were killed in three separate, unrelated shootings in Jacksonville Wednesday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

New Town shooting

JSO's Sergeant Reed says on Wednesday at approximately 7:40 p.m., officers responded to the area of Kings Road and Whitner Street in reference to reports of a person shot. When officers arrived, Reed says an unidentified man was suffering from a gunshot wound.

Next, police say the man was taken to a local hospital by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, as he later died there.

Reed says JSO's homicide and crime scene detectives as well as the State Attorney, responded to the scene to speak with witnesses, canvass the area for surveillance footage and to conduct an ongoing investigation.

Southside shooting

Reed says on Wednesday at approximately 10 p.m., officers responded to the 9500 block of Amarante Circle in reference to reports of a person shot. While officers were on the way to the area, Reed says "they received additional information from 911 callers about a description of a vehicle the suspects were in."

JSO says officers located the vehicle matching the description given and conducted a traffic stop on it, while additional officers were already on scene, "tending to the victim with JFRD." The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody without incident, according to police.

JSO's homicide and crime scene detectives as well as the State Attorney, responded to conduct an investigation. Police say they spoke with witnesses and were canvassing the area for surveillance footage. Detectives are also speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, Reed says.

Spring Park shooting

Reed says on Wednesday at approximately 7 p.m., the sheriff's office was notified of a gunshot victim that was dropped off at Wolfson's Hospital, but was later taken to Shand's Hospital for further treatment.

Police learned that an unidentified 19-year-old man suffered a single gunshot wound to his groin and was in non-life-threatening condition.

The man told police the shooting occurred on Spring Park Road on Jacksonville's Southside. However, JSO says they were unable to locate a crime scene or find any evidence.

Police are conducting an active investigation into the shooting.

Anyone with information on the shootings, is encouraged to call JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
