Woman dead after two vehicles hit her in Northwest Jacksonville hit-and-run, police say

JSO's Sergeant Hungerford says at approximately 11 p.m. on Wednesday, a woman was hit in the 5600 block of Avenue B, two blocks south of Edgewood Avenue.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is currently looking for two vehicles after a woman in her mid-60s was killed in a hit-and-run incident that took place in Northwest Jacksonville Wednesday night.

JSO's Sergeant Hungerford says at approximately 11 p.m. on Wednesday, the unidentified woman was hit in the 5600 block of Avenue B, two blocks south of Edgewood Avenue. He says a dark-colored SUV and a white Chevrolet sedan, possibly an Aveo, fled the scene westbound on Edgewood Avenue.

First responders of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department arrived to the scene shortly after, JSO says, and pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Hungerford says this incident is the 160th traffic fatality in Duval County this year.
