JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The coldest air of the season is on the way Saturday morning.

Lows could be in the 30s for places across the First Coast. That means it may be time to protect some of your plants!

Some cold-sensitive plants don't do well in temperatures under 40 degrees. That includes many houseplants and tropical plants like hibiscus. Vegetables like tomatoes and peppers and herbs like basil also aren't recommended for temperatures cooler than 40.

If your plants don't do well in the cooler weather, they will show signs of cold stress, such as wilting, leaf drop, discoloration and stunted growth.

If you own cold sensitive plants, bring them inside, spread mulch or cover them up Friday night.
