Massive four-vehicle crash forced temporary shut down of I-95 South in Jacksonville

FHP's traffic incidents page says troopers were dispatched to the crash involving injuries at 4:49 p.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A large four-vehicle crash caused multiple injuries Tuesday afternoon on I-95 South near Airport Road in Jacksonville, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At about 4:18 p.m., a pickup truck carrying a trailer was traveling in the right lane when it collided in the back of a sedan. The pickup's driver failed to yield to a slow traffic sign, according to the FHP.

The sedan hit another vehicle that left the scene.

Meanwhile, the pickup's driver lost control of the vehicle. Another pickup truck crashed into the trailer, which was left in the right lane.

The original pickup finally came to a rest after it hit a second sedan.

The crash caused a massive traffic jam that shut down parts of southbound I-95 for several hours.

There were four people injured in the crash, all from the second sedan hit by the original pickup, FHP said. All four people received only minor injuries.
