ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — All lanes of I-95 at CR 210 are back open Monday afternoon after a crash with injuries blocked all northbound lanes and one southbound lane for hours in St. Johns County.
The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the scene, near CR 210, at 9:58 a.m. One southbound lane was also blocked for a couple of hours, causing traffic to back up on I-95 in both directions.
A dump truck loaded with asphalt was driving south on I-95 in the right lane when its left front tire tread separated, causing the driver to lost control, according to a report from FHP. The dump truck began to spin and traveled into the center lane, hitting the right side of a straight truck loaded with granite. That forced the straight truck into the left, hitting a cargo van in the left lane, the FHP report says.
All three vehicles traveled through the center median guardrail and into the northbound lanes of I-95, according to the report. The dump truck then overturned and landed in the center median on the northbound side of I-95. The straight truck landed in the left northbound lane of I-95, and the cargo van landed on its left side in the left northbound lane as well, the report says.
The northbound lanes of I-95 reopened at 1:21 p.m., according to the FHP report.
