JSO: 9000 block of County Road 217 closed for 'indefinite' time due to police investigation

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — This street is back open. The investigation is concluded and no one is in any danger.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says County Road 217 near the 9000 block will be closed for an "indefinite" time due to a police investigation. JSO did not provide further details, as drivers should avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

The Clay County District Schools Police Department posted on Facebook that police activity near County Road 217 and Clay Hill Elementary School "has been resolved, with roadways cleared shortly." The post also states that today's school schedule will remain normal and a "robo" call from the school's principal will come soon.

Mike Mears, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security, tells First Coast News that the department is leading the investigation, as no further information was provided due to the investigation that is active. Multiple law enforcement agencies including the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Clay County Sheriff's Office and Florida Highway Patrol, joined Homeland Security on scene Thursday.
