What we know about Trevor Lawrence's injury

Lawrence left the field in the 4th quarter during the Jaguars/Bengals game Monday. Here's what we know about the severity of his injury, and if he will return.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE: Trevor Lawrence has a high ankle sprain; Coach Doug Pederson gave an update Monday on Lawrence and the team's Monday night performance.

END UPDATE_________________________

At the press conference following the Jaguars vs. Bengals game Monday night, Head Coach Doug Pederson would not say much about the injury that took Trevor Lawrence off the field.

Pederson said that he will speak with the team's doctors tonight and have an update Tuesday.

The Associated Press is reporting that Lawrence suffered an injury to his right ankle.

In the fourth quarter, Jaguars left tackle Walker Little stepped on Lawrence's ankle, causing it to twist.

Lawrence was helped to his feet -- and immediately fell to his knees. Silence fell on Everbank Stadium as he dropped to the ground, ripped off his helmet and threw it.

Footage shown during the game showed Lawrence being helped off the field. He is supported by staff on each side, but badly limping.

Lawrence was in the locker room after the game. He was using crutches but appeared able to put weight on his ankle.

Pederson said that backup quarterback CJ Beathard is ready to play if he needs to. However, he says they need to evaluate what is happening with Lawrence first.

NFL Network reporter Cameron Wolfe wrote on X that he left the stadium on a cart.

Wide receiver Christian Kirk also suffered a groin injury early in the game. There is no update on his status at this time, but he also reportedly left on a cart.
