JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars have revealed the list of its team captains for the 2024 season, the team announced on Tuesday.
The Jaguars said head coach Doug Pederson will name a rotating captain each week in addition to the five "permanent" captains.
Topping the list this year, is fourth-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The franchise QB signed a five-year, $275 million contract in June, and looks to lead the team back to the playoffs after a disappointing 2023 season to many. If Lawrence is named a team captain next year by the Jags, the "C" patch on his jersey will be in full gold, as the particular look applies to team captains who have held the honor for five-plus years.
The only other offensive player named a captain for the season is tight end Evan Engram. The former first round pick racked up a career-high 117 catches for 967 yards, and scored four touchdowns for the Jaguars last year.
The two defensive players named captains this year are defensive end Josh-Hines Allen and linebacker Foye Oluokun. It is Hines-Allen's fourth time being selected, while Oluokun has been named captain every year since joining the team in free agency in 2022.
Punter Logan Cooke earned the captain distinction for the Jags' special teams unit. This is the second time in his career that he's received the honor.
The Jaguars will kick off their 2024 season on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Miami against the Dolphins.
