JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars released their new "shell white" alternate helmets Thursday, one week after the team unveiled its throwback 90s uninforms to commemorate the franchise's 30th season.
The Jags showed off the new helmets with "JAX" written on the front face plate in a trailer posted on their Facebook page following a teaser posted on Wednesday, which said: "Y'all thought we were finished?"
The "sleek, all white, matte shell" helmet will be debuted during the Jaguars' week 10 matchup versus the Minnesota Vikings, according to the team's website; it will be a home game at 1 p.m. on Nov. 10.
Jaguars Head Equipment Manager George Pellicer says the helmet was designed "to pay homage to our diverse fan base, unifying the power of sports, our location and a vital component of our community - the military," the team's website states.
Pellicer also says the helmet design connects three primary pillars that make Jacksonville what it is today. The three pillars are: the beach, the military and football, which are "all protected by or made beautiful by some variation of shells - seashells, jacket shells, and football shells," Pellicer said.
"The number of games it [the helmet] will be worn in future seasons has yet to be determined but, we are excited for the future of these helmets," Pellicer said on the Jags' website.
