JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence will miss his second consecutive game and third game of his career Sunday against the Detroit Lions, head coach Doug Pederson announced in a press conference Wednesday.
Pederson said he's getting close, but "we don't wanna put a player out there that's not 100 percent, so we're gonna rest him one more week."
Then, when asked if Lawrence will be "ready to go" after the team's bye week, which follows the week after the Lions game, Pederson said: "Ah, it's still a question mark, but I'm optimistic, yeah."
Lawrence is dealing with a shoulder injury to his non-throwing arm, NFL Insider Adam Schefter posted on X.
The big cats kept it close down the stretch in Lawrence's absence against the Minnesota Vikings in week 10, but ultimately lost the game 12-7.
Lawrence's replacement, Jacksonville native Mac Jones, threw two crucial 4th quarter interceptions versus the Vikings. He finished with a stat line of 111 passing yards, zero touchdowns, registered a quarterback rating of 38.3 and completed 63.6% of his throws.
The Jags' week 11 game versus Detroit will be an away one, as kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
