JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jaime Ffrench Jr., a highly touted five-star college football recruit who attends Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, recently narrowed down his top three college choices after he decommitted from the University of Alabama in January.
Around this time every year, a lot of buzz comes out of spring football practices regarding college recruits and their commitments, as the pending decision with Ffrench proves to be no different. First Coast Sports saw him participating in a spring practice at his high school last week.
Ffrench decommitted from Alabama following longtime head coach Nick Saban's retirement announcement. He stated at the time that Saban's departure played a role in his decision to decommit, but wasn't the sole reason.
"It was a big reason, but it wasn't the whole reason," Ffrench told First Coast News in January. "Nobody there recruited me anymore. So, it's like I wanted to take a big step back and just overlook things. Schools who were head over heels about me, just take the time to give them some time to overlook things."
Ffrench, the nation's third-best wide receiver for the recruiting class of 2025 according to 247Sports, has narrowed down his top three college choices to the University of Texas, University of Miami and Louisiana State University, an Instagram post states.
Ffrench told First Coast News also in January that he was "definitely" interested in attending Ohio State University, as the post notes that despite experts' predictions on the wide receiver committing there, the Mustangs product "seems to be favoring an eventual commitment to Texas right now."
Ffrench previously said that he is not looking for anything out of the ordinary from his next destination.
"I'm trying to look for who is most family-oriented," Ffrench said. "Who's going to treat me like home when my parents aren't there. Just trying to get a good feel because I have to be there without my parents."
The five-star recruit has more than 30 offers from colleges and universities nationwide.
