PALM COAST, Fla. — New video shows the moments a stolen Ferrari sped through streets in Palm Coast, leading police on a high-speed chase.
The car was stolen during a Rhode Island home invasion over the weekend and now the two teens accused of that home invasion are in custody.
In the newly released video, you can see the blue Ferrari in this video running a red light and almost hitting a white truck, with Flagler County deputies right behind in the pursuit.
The Ferrari was wanted in connection with a home invasion in Rhode Island where police say 19-year-old Johnathan Costa and 18-year-old Logan Slezak broke into a home, held the victims at gunpoint and demanded car keys including the blue Ferrari. Investigators say Costa is the ex-boyfriend of the victim’s daughter.
Video from Monday shows Rhode Island State Police chasing the Ferrari before it crossed state lines into Connecticut where it was lost. By Tuesday, the Ferrari was in Florida.
“When that vehicle hit the license plate readers in St. Johns County that what alerted them to the vehicle initially when started all of this," David Williams, with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office said.
Traffic cam video shows the car running through intersections and speeding down busy roadways. Flagler County deputies pursued the car but eventually it got away.
“I got directly behind the vehicle at one point. When he turned left on Palm Coast Parkway to Bell Terre and that’s when he took off and I would say exceeded 100 mph," Williams said.
An hour later it was found here parked behind a home in Palm Coast. Police say the home belongs to a friend of Costa.
After a stand-off, 19-year-old Johnathan Costa and an unidentified person were taken into custody.
“So they came out peacefully, with no force necessary, no gun fire exchange, they came out peaceful and they were secured," Williams said.
The other teen, 18-year-old Logan Slezak, was found and arrested in Rhode Island hours later.
