JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has arrested a man detectives said shot and killed his family member in a Mid-Westside neighborhood Saturday.
Officers responded to a building that had been crashed into on Myrtle Avenue just after midnight on Saturday morning. Inside the vehicle they found the driver, Anthony Maxwell, had been shot multiple times, resulting in the crash.
Maxwell died from his injuries.
After speaking with witnesses, detectives zeroed in on 57-year-old Anthony Brooks, a family member of Maxwell.
Brooks was interviewed by detectives Tuesday, which ultimately culminated in his arrest and charge of second degree murder.
Brooks was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
