Crews are expecting some power outages caused by down trees and fallen power lines and are urging residents to check their property for potential risks.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — JEA services crews spent Monday preparing for severe weather expected to hit the First Coast Tuesday, bringing high winds and rainfall to the area.

JEA leaders say high winds will cause the most damage. Crews are expecting some power outages caused by down trees and fallen power lines and are urging residents to check their property for potential risks.

“Our water crews are securing active project sites and are prepared for any necessary response efforts. As for what residents can do, one thing is make sure any loose furniture or other items outside is secured either brought inside or secured," Karen McAllister, JEA media relations, said.

Crews are ready to respond to calls for service.

“Safety is our number one priority, so our crews work as quickly and safely as possible to restore power. It all depends on how extensive an outage may be in terms of how long it will take so we always ask for patience," said McAllister.

Customers can visit JEA's website to see power outage reports in real-time and request service if the power goes out.
