Jacksonville Housing Authority announces appointment of third CEO in 6 months

The JHA's board of commissioners unanimously approved JHA Chair Roslyn Mixon-Phillips as the interim CEO Monday after Vanessa Dunn resigned last week.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Housing Authority has announced the appointment of its third CEO in six months.

The JHA's board of commissioners unanimously approved JHA Chair Roslyn Mixon-Phillips as the interim CEO Monday.

“Roslyn Mixon-Phillips is the ideal candidate for the interim CEO position at this time,” JHA Chair Heather Horovitz said. “Her decades of housing and community experience with the city of Jacksonville and her role as chair of the Jacksonville Housing Authority will greatly help with the stabilizing the agency and setting us on a smooth transition to permanent leadership.”

The announcement came after Vanessa Dunn, who was appointed interim CEO in February, resigned last week.

Dunn took over for Dwayne Alexander, who was the JHA CEO for two years before he resigned in February.

Alexander told First Coast News in a sit-down on Feb. 1, that he felt he was "pushed out" as CEO by Mayor Donna Deegan's administration. The Deegan administration has denied these claims.

Mixon-Phillips will take over the position as early as this week and will serve as interim CEO for up to one year with an annual salary of $200,000.

“I look forward to working together to drive positive changes that will benefit the agency, its employees, and the residents we serve. There is much to be done, and I am ready to get started," said Mixon-Phillips.
