FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — The city of Fernandina Beach is looking to tab a local official, Orange Park Town Manager Sarah Campbell, as its next city manager.

After endorsing Campbell at a recent meeting, the next step is contract negotiations.

Campbell was named Orange Park town manager in 2017 and had worked for the town since 2008, including roles as town clerk and assistant town manager.

The city's executive recruiting firm, Colin Baenziger & Associates, began a extensive search earlier this year. There were five final candidates, with four traveling to Fernandina Beach for interviews.

"As a member in good standing with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), Ms. Campbell holds herself to a high degree of accountability in commission interactions, community engagement, and personal conduct.," the city's press release said. "We are excited to welcome Ms. Campbell to Fernandina Beach and look forward to continuing our commitment to serving our community with her at the helm."

Fernandina Beach accepted previous City Manager Ty Ross' resignation in December after he crashed his bike while allegedly drunk, which was caught on video by police.
