JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two men have been arrested in the shooting death of a 26-year-old man, which happened on Philips Highway in October, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced on Monday.
Christopher Antonio Garcia-Jimenez, 26, is charged with accessory to murder and tampering with evidence, a JSO news release states. Ellis Mannuelle Marrero-Ramos, 19, is charged with second-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder, the release states.
JSO says on Oct. 29, 2023, officers responded to gunfire in the 6300 block of Philips Highway. When they arrived, Anthony Ronaldo Parana Camargo, 26, and two other men were found shot in the road near 'The Nowhere Lounge,' according to JSO.
Camargo was pronounced dead, while the other two men were rushed to a local hospital; the identities of the two men have not been released by police.
"In the early stages of the investigation, surveillance footage was obtained showing one of the suspects and the vehicle used during the shooting of the victim," the release states.
Police say Garcia-Jimenez was identified as one of the suspects in the shooting and was arrested after the sheriff's office received a tip from the community.
"Thanks to the help of a conscientious and concerned citizen, these dangerous criminals are off the street and will be held accountable for their actions," the release states.
