The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office has announced three arrests out of the five suspects they say were involved in a shooting and hectic chase on Friday.
They later fled from deputies, crashing into a vehicle near the intersection of State Road 206 and County Road 305. The driver, Travion Washington, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene, according to the sheriff's office. The chase prompted Southwoods Elementary School to be placed on a hard lock down due to its proximity.
One of the suspects was air lifted to a trauma center due to injuries sustained in the crash and remains in critical condition.
The shooting victim "is expected to survive" police said.
Three 18-year-old suspects were arrested Friday:
- Fitzroy Ellis. Resisting law enforcement without violence, Homicide warrant (Georgia).
- Dovanni Small. Grand theft motor vehicle, Resisting law enforcement without violence.
- Travion Washington. Fleeing and eluding law enforcement (driver), Resisting law enforcement without violence.
The sheriff's office said the victim is not cooperating. Though all suspects are in custody, the investigation is ongoing.
Police said the suspect vehicle was reported stolen out of Georgia and three firearms were discovered inside.
One of the suspects, Ellis, has an active murder warrant out of Georgia.
According to the City of Vidalia Police Department, Ellis faces two counts of felony murder and five counts of aggravated assault in connection to the deaths of Justin Godfrey, Iesha Wicker, and Wicker's unborn baby.
Michael Anthony Jr., 19, also faces two counts of felony murder and five counts of aggravated assault in the case.
