JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — There is a increased police presence at Englewood High Wednesday morning following a threat on the Microsoft Teams platform, according to the school.
Law enforcement is investigating pictures of guns posted, telling students not to come to school. The school was placed in a lockout status, a school official said. During a lockout, no one is allowed to enter or leave the building.
This comes a day after a student was accused of making threats toward Fletcher High School and detained, according to the Neptune Beach Police Department. San Pablo Elementary and Fletcher Middle were also placed in lockout status.
Principal Marleny Chirino said in an email to parents the situation is ongoing and school staff were following protocols.
" ... I want to assure you that law enforcement is currently investigating this threat, and based on that investigation, we will follow police guidance regarding any security precautions we might put in place for school tomorrow. Again, I do want you to be aware that this threat was posted and also to know that law enforcement is working this case right now. If there is any further update or security information to share, I will call you back at that time. Please know that student and staff safety is always our most important goal, and I will follow up when additional information becomes available through the police. Thank you, and goodbye."
