JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was arrested on Tuesday in connection to a December 2023 murder that happened in Northwest Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
On Dec. 18, JSO says officers responded to a "shot spotter activation" in the 1900 block of West 11th Street.
"While officers were on the way to the scene, the call was upgraded to a person shot," the sheriff's office said in a news release.
When officers arrived, a man identified as 44-year-old Marcus Floyd, was found injured, according to police, as he was then rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the shooting happened around 11:45 p.m.
JSO says based on witness interviews and "other pertinent information," detectives identified Myles Bennette, 31, as a person of interest.
On Tuesday, Bennette, who was already in custody at the Duval County Jail on unrelated charges, was arrested for murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in this case.
