JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man has been arrested in connection to a series of burglaries around Jacksonville from last month where he reportedly "engaged" with women before fleeing on foot, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced Sunday.
Joseph Parrott, 37, was arrested on multiple charges including attempted sexual battery, burglary and grand theft.
JSO said the burglaries occurred in the San Juan Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard area. His method of entry was mainly through unsecured accesses into the residences, the agency said. Sexual battery was not mentioned in the September news release.
"Once making his presence known and being seen by the occupant, the suspect would flee out of the residence and away from the area on foot," JSO said in its release.
When the information was released to the community, officers were actively patrolling the areas Parrott had been frequenting. An individual matching the suspect’s description was observed and as officers approached to make contact, he attempted to flee on a bicycle, the agency said.
After his arrest, detectives with the Special Assault and Burglary units investigated the crimes, spoke with victims and witnesses, and vetted the evidence that had been collected from the multiple scenes the suspect had visited.
Anyone having further information in regard to these cases is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500.
