Police say McCabe and the woman whose identity isn't revealed due to it being redacted in the arrest report, were involved in a "domestic dispute [that] almost turned deadly."

On Friday shortly before 10:40 a.m., the sheriff's office says its communication center received an emergency call from McCabe who requested medical services for the unidentified woman. McCabe told police that she was bleeding from her face and eyes, the report states.

When a deputy arrived at the residence where the dispute took place, the sheriff's office says she met McCabe in the front yard, placed him in the back of her patrol vehicle, then afterward, located the woman lying on the kitchen floor in a puddle of blood, "in and out of consciousness." The woman suffered "numerous" injuries to her face, head and torso, according to the report, and was taken to UF Health Downtown Jacksonville via Life Flight.

"At this time the victim is still in critical condition and is being treated for her injuries," the report states.

The deputy took McCabe to the Nassau County Criminal Investigations Division for questioning and since this portion in his arrest report is redacted, what he said in statements to police is unknown. He was later arrested and taken into the Nassau County courthouse.
