JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is in custody after police say he murdered a woman in Brentwood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Justin Henderson, 35, was charged with murder, abuse of a dead body and tampering with evidence.
In a heavily redacted report, a witness complained of a foul odor coming from home at 317 W. 41st St. She said the victim, Quintasha Ross, had not contacted her in two weeks, the report said.
Officers searched the residence, but did not observe anyone else inside the residence or notice foul odors. The homeowner, Henderson, said he had not seen Ross in a few weeks. His relationship to Ross is described "acquaintance" in the report.
Family members of Ross also raised concerns with law enforcement and the house was searched again, the report said.
Homicide Unit and the Missing Persons Unit later responded, Ross' body was discovered Monday and the case was ruled as a homicide, police said.
Henderson was taken to Duval County Jail at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. His bond is set at $1,225,000.
