Police: Man arrested for aggravated assault on three victims, caused lost of $1,200 in revenue

Jamie Ray Craft Jr., 39, faces charges of assault with intent to commit a felony and criminal mischief of more than $1,000, or interruption of business or utilities.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was arrested at a State Farm in Jacksonville on Monday and thus, is accused of causing a lost of $1,200 in revenue, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Jamie Ray Craft Jr., 39, faces charges of assault with intent to commit a felony and criminal mischief of more than $1,000, or interruption of business or utilities.

At approximately 1 p.m. on Monday, JSO says an officer responded to the 9940 block of Old Baymeadows Road in reference to a "possible robbery in progress," Craft's arrest report states. When the officer arrived, the report states that a victim advised them that Craft was possibly armed inside the business.

Additional units were then called to the scene, according to the report. When units quickly arrived, JSO says, they were able to secure all sides of the business, ensuring all possible exits were covered.

"With all personnel in place, we began announcements ordering the subject to come out," JSO states in the report. "JSO Drone Units responded and were able to observe the subject inside, providing a more accurate description. With the description provided, we were able to identify the subject as Jamie Craft (Suspect). Shortly after identification, Jamie responded to our commands and surrendered without incident. No other person(s) were found inside the business."

Post incident, the report states that a victim told police that Craft began to wonder around within the business after he walked in. Three victims "instantly became alarmed and feared for their safety" after one victim asked him, "Hi, can I help you with anything?" and he responded. It is unknown what was said back to the victim because this part of the report is redacted.

"As Jamie continued farther into the store with uncertain intentions, and not knowing if he was armed with any weapon(s), they [the victims] took the opportunity to run out of the store," the report states.

One victim explained to police how Craft has negatively impacted their business, on top of visible mess that was present in or around the business, the report states. The victim told an officer, according to the report, that during the time in which Craft occupied the store, approximately two customers would have came in and an average of five prospective clients would have called.

"With a very conservative estimation, assuming at least one of those 2 people would have conducted business, they lost a minimum of $1,200 in revenue," the report states. "Based on the obvious fear for their safety, it was determined that Jamie had committed an aggravated assault on each victim (3 in total) within the business. As the business suffered a minimum of $1,200 in revenue during this period, he has also committed a felony criminal mischief via disruption to their business operations."

Craft was taken into custody without incident where he is being held on a $7,500 bond.
