JSO: Man, woman wanted for multiple shootings found dead inside Southside apartment

While negotiating with the suspects, JSO said the woman said she'd "rather shoot it out with police" than go to jail.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two suspects wanted by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office last week for attempted murder were found dead with gunshot wounds Friday, the agency said Tuesday.

The sheriff's office released photographs of Briana Arreola, 27, and Ian Piscitelli, 28, on Sept. 5 asking the public for tips in hopes of locating them after multiple instances of "shootings into occupied dwellings."

First Coast News spoke with a neighbor in the Clearview Townhouses who said they heard "seven or eight shots" the night of one of the shootings.

Warrants were obtained by JSO for Arreola and Piscitelli on attempted murder charges. JSO tracked them down to an apartment on Gate Parkway Friday evening. Officers first reached out to the suspects via cell phone, in which they learned Arreola would rather "shoot it out with police" than go to jail, JSO said.

The SWAT team was called in along with hostage negotiators who surrounded the apartment. While on the phone with Arreola, officers heard her ask Piscitelli for a gun. They then heard two gunshots.

"Despite attempts to de-escalate the situation and talk them out peacefully, the detective on the phone heard two shots," JSO said. "SWAT operators entered the residence and found the male and female dead from gunshot wounds."

JSO said officers located multiple firearms inside the residence, one of which was in Piscitelli's hand.
