JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville man is accused of attempted murder after an argument ended in a shooting at an Arlington apartment complex parking lot on Friday. Antione Turner, 22, faces one count of attempted second-degree murder.
An officer was inside The Lakeside Nest apartments around 12:27 p.m. when she heard five to six gunshots and saw two men running between apartment buildings, according to JSO. The officer noticed a white Nissan in a nearby parking lot with a broken back window.
Police responded to the parking lot and found five people inside or near the white Nissan, a JSO arrest report states. One of the men inside the vehicle was identified as a victim, La'ron McNair, 20. The report also names 20-year-old Baron Greenwade III as the driver of the vehicle.
The preliminary investigation indicated a dispute between two men led to shots being fired in the parking lot, according to the report.
The report states Turner asked McNair about $5 he allegedly stole from Turner a year ago. According to the report, McNair replied that he didn't have the money and Turner said he wanted to fight.
Much of what transpired after was redacted from the report.
The report states after police arrived, McNair fled and was later captured by a responding officer and K-9 "Freedom." McNair faces charges of possession of a weapon or ammunition by a felon, violation of probation, and resisting an officer without violence.
Greenwade was also detained by officers nearby, he faces charges of possession of a weapon or ammunition by a felon and resisting an officer without violence.
Turner was taken to UF Health Jacksonville for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the shoulder, according to the report. He was later interviewed by JSO detectives and arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder. He remains in Duval County Jail on no bond.
During Friday's incident, GRASP Academy and Lake Lucina Elementary were on lockdown as a precaution due to the police activity in the area, according to Duval County Public Schools.
Both McNair and Turner are set to be back in Duval County court on May 20 at 9 a.m.
