JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man injured in an explosion at a Lake Forest Hills home Saturday night was arrested on a separate charge stemming from possessing ammunition as a convicted felon.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to the 1824 Rugby Road in reference to a person in need of medical assistance, a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office report said.

Officers arrived and found William Union, 31, who had wounds on his chest and neck, though he did not suffer life threatening injuries, the report said. Police observed a blood trail leading to the backyard of the home from the porch, with a large hole in the backyard that "appeared to be as if something blew up or denotated on the ground," according to the report.

Officers entered the home due to a report of a gunshot in the area and found live shotgun shells in the home, the report said.

The man  had several other injuries all over his body from an unknown incident that occurred before police arrived, according to police.

The report said a witness heard gunshots at 9:30 p.m. People in the area described hearing an explosion, adding the sound echoed a transformer blowing up, according to police.
