JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Tampa Police Department, joined by Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters, announced three arrests and two additional outstanding suspects in the death of Jacksonville rapper Charles Jones, known by his stage name "Foolio."
At the press conference Monday, Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said the suspects in the case belonged to Jacksonville-based gang ATK, as well as another gang called 1200.
The Department of Justice said in a release in 2022 that ATK stands for "Ace's Top Killers." The release says this is referring to Jacksonville rapper Yungeen Ace, whose real name is Keyanta Bullard. Bullard and Jones have been opposing figureheads at the helm of carnage that has left many dead, including friends and relatives of each one, and now Jones himself.
At the press conference, officials were asked about Bullard's potential involvement.
"Yungeen Ace has long been known in Jacksonville," Waters said. "We are consistently monitoring those groups. We have people that are always watching them."
He said there is no investigation into Yungeen Ace at this time. "But he can't move around in Jacksonville without us knowing about it. And that's for the betterment of our community," said Waters.
Bullard was arrested in Jacksonville Beach on April 15 on gun possession charges. He bailed out and returned to his home in Texas. The charges have now been dropped.
Three suspects have been arrested so far in Foolio's murder. Their names are Alicia Andrews, Isaiah Chance and Sean Gathright. Police have warrants out for the arrest of two others: Rashad Murphy and Davion Murphy.
Officials said three of the five suspects were armed when Foolio was shot and killed, but as Hillsborough County State Attorney Suzy Lopez said Monday, all five will face life in prison, "even the ones that didn't pull the trigger."
