JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man who shot a coworker at a Circle K early Monday over a work dispute has been charged with attempted murder, according to a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office report.
Fredrick Edwards was charged with attempted murder, police said. Edwards worked as a contractor for JEA according to the report.
The victim was identified as 27-year-old Joshua Coley-Smith, according to JSO. A man told police he and the victim always met at Circle K for coffee and received a call from the victim at 5 a.m. from Joshua Smith-Coley about Edwards. The report said Edwards was angry over being called so early and hung up on him and the two planned to meet face-to-face.
Police responded to the shooting at the 10010 Granite Place at 6:07 a.m.
The man said Edwards called him and said he would "pull up on" Coley-Smith, the report said. The report said an altercation ensued near one of the gas pumps between Smith-Coley and Edwards and the man tried to separate the pair. After the shooting, Edwards stayed at the scene, the report said.
Officers noticed one gunshot wound to Smith-Coley's sternum and he was taken to the hospital. Edwards was taken into custody, police said.
