JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Are you looking for a furry feline friend to complete your family? You can find one this weekend at the Jacksonville Humane Society, where adoptions are half-priced this weekend.
Midnight, a 3-year-old domestic short-haired cat, visited First Coast News Saturday for Pet Tails. He is a curious fellow with a beautiful black coat in need of a forever home.
Midnight gets along well with other cats and dogs as well.
JHS says springtime is the time of year when litters of kittens are more prevalent. If you find kittens, JHS says these are the steps you need to take to make sure you don't do more harm than good:
- Watch and wait. Mom is likely nearby. She is their BEST chance to survive.
- Use this chart to estimate the age of the kittens and go from there.
- Please remember that shelters take in thousands of neonatal kittens every year - including 5,000 last year alone in Jacksonville - so resources are limited.
JHS is hosting an event at the PetSmart store located at 8801 Southside Blvd. in Jacksonville Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All adoptions at JHS are half-priced this weekend. The humane society's address is 8464 Beach Blvd., and its hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
