When could Florida see its first frost of the 2024 season?

The seasons are changing, so here's a look at when the First Coast could experience it's first Fall frost.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — This week's cold front is ushering in our first real taste of fall-like air across the First Coast. Break out the fall-scented candles, pumpkin spice coffee, and most importantly, some warmer clothes!

Freeze watches and warnings and frost advisories are in effect all across the northern part of the country, from Oklahoma and Kansas to Pennsylvania and New York, marking the first freezing temperatures for many of these locations.

So, you might be wondering when the First Coast could see it's first frost of the year.

Inland Southeast Georgia typically sees the coldest and driest air first, leading to an earlier frost in the season, generally within the first week or so of November. On average, Jacksonville doesn't see frost until the back half of November, right around the Thanksgiving holiday.

These averages are just guidance for what we can expect and when. Frosts can still be seen earlier, later or not at all in the season!

If you're not a fan of the cold, you're in luck, because we're still about a month away from our the First Coast's first climatological frost.
