JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Climate Prediction Center is forecasting a month of near-normal temperatures on the First Coast.
What is “normal?" The average high temperature at the start of October is around 85 degrees, and by the end, the afternoon high averages around 77 degrees.
Meanwhile, the southern half of the state of Florida has a 33-50% chance of warmer than normal temperatures.
Those probabilities are nothing compared to places like Denver and Salt Lake City, which have a 70-80% chance of a warmer than normal month. Other parts of the Rockies have a 50-70% chance. And parts of Pennsylvania, New York, and the rest of the of the Northeast have a 33-50% chance of warmer than normal temperatures.
These states are hot spots for viewing Fall foliage in October, so check the weather before you go – you may not need as heavy of a sweater as you think.
For the next 3 months (October, November and December), the Climate Prediction Center is highlighting a large portion of the country for a chance of a warmer than normal weather.
