JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The First Coast News Most Accurate Weather Team™️ is issuing a Weather Impact Alert Day for Monday, July 8, until 7 p.m. for heavy rain and heat.

IMPACT: Numerous heavy storms will lead to a localized flooding threat. Where it doesn't rain, heat index values could reach dangerously hot levels of 111 degrees.

NEED: For the thunderstorms and heavy rain, take it slow on the roads, be mindful of street flooding and the potential for hydroplaning. Blinding downpours are also a concern. If you hear thunder, head inside quickly to escape frequent lightning and gusty winds. For the dangerous feels-like temperatures, stay hydrated, take breaks in the AC or shade, wear loose-fitting, lightweight clothing, check the backseat, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Additional Notes:  There are Weather Impact Alert Days issued for Tuesday and Wednesday for the risk of heavy rain and flash flooding.
