Heat continues to dominate areas of the First Coast Wednesday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The First Coast's Most Accurate Weather Team is issuing a Weather Impact Alert for Wednesday, Aug. 14 for Northeast Florida.

As we have seen over the last week, the heat continues to dominate Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia with a high humidity. Wednesday's Weather Impact Alert is for our Northeast Florida counties, not Georgia. Heat indices are expected to reach over 110 degrees at times.

WHEN: Wednesday, Aug 14. from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

IMPACT: Heat index values to reach in the dangerous range between 108 and 112 degrees.

NEED: Stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks from the sun and the outdoors. Extended time outside without breaks or shade could lead to heat-related illnesses.

Cooling centers are open at several City of Jacksonville facilities Tuesday, including:

  • All COJ public libraries
  • COJ community centers
  • COJ splash pads

Free transportation is being offered to cooling centers by the Jacksonville Transportation Authority.
