Tropical system could develop in Gulf later this week

The National Hurricane Center announced that a tropical system has a chance of forming in the Gulf of Mexico later this week, which could possibly impact your Memorial Day plans.

NHS said the chance of a tropical cyclone has a 50 percent chance of forming over the next five days.

Regardless of development, heavy rainfall is expected across Florida over the next several days as the system moves north up the Gulf.

Hurricane season begins June 1 and continues until November 30.
