Putnam County recommends evacuations for some areas

As of Monday at 4:30 p.m., Putnam County Emergency Management has recommended evacuations for Zone A and F.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — Putnam County Emergency Management is recommending that Evacuation Zones F and A plan to evacuate for Hurricane Milton.

Milton is expected to impact the First Coast most severely Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.

People in Putnam County should be aware of the risk of flooding along rivers and should stay indoors during the storm. As of Monday's forecast, mobile homes are not safe and those who live in mobile homes should seek shelter elsewhere.

Evacuation Zones A and F are areas where heavy flooding is common along the river. This includes parts of Welaka, Bardin and north of Bostwick. Maps can be found below, but you should visit this link and enter your address to check if you are in Zone A or F.

Officials recommend that people evacuate any time before the storm starts, but especially before midday Wednesday. Shelters open Tuesday at 6 p.m.
