Law enforcement in Pierce County is reporting that an EF-0 tornado touched down parts of Sunnyside Thursday during severe storms.
According to a log by the National Weather Service, law enforcement say the tornado started just east of Highway 84 and traveled along St. Johns Church Road and then into the marsh northeast of Riggins Road.
The log states the length of the tornado was about nine miles and that it was on the ground for about nine minutes from 2:19 p.m. to 2:28 p.m.
Damage caused by the tornado consisted of trees down, billboards ripped up and roof damage along its path.
Meanwhile, severe storms brought other reports of tornadoes and storm damage across our Southeast Georgia counties.
Ware County also saw tornadoes and storm damage Thursday afternoon. At 2:05 p.m., emergency management reported a tornado along Highway 84. A trained spotter with the National Weather Service reported seeing a funnel cloud, along with nickel-sized hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph.
Waycross also saw quarter-sized hail and Wahoma saw downed trees along 11th and 15th Streets.
In Brantley County, emergency management and fire officials reported 1.75-inch hail in both Hobbokken and Waynesville around 2:30 p.m.
In Glynn County, emergency management reported a tornado along Highway 82 near Thalmann in Waynesville at 2:59 p.m.
In Camden County, a trained spotter reported a tornado along mile marker 22 on Interstate 94 northbound moving east around 3 p.m.
