JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — With warmer temperatures, many may be tempted to hit the beach. However, beach conditions won’t be the best for the second half of the workweek. That’s thanks to sea fog in the forecast.
Sea fog forms when warm, moist air moves over cooler water, causing the air to cool and condense into fog. This is also known as advection fog.
Our coastal waters are in the upper 50s while our air is over 20 degrees warmer.
Locally, warm and moist air from the Gulf Stream can move over our cooler coastal waters and create sea fog along the First Coast.
Sea fog will remain until the warm front clears our area.
This sea fog will make it cooler at the coast than inland. So, it likely will not be 80 degrees at the beach on Friday! Get your forecast here.
