JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The December sky is looking extra interesting this weekend as the trio of Venus, Jupiter and Saturn will be easy to spot after sunset. The planetary alignment will peak this weekend but will still be visible through most of December.

The best time to look is just after sunset and to the right of where the crescent moon is. There you will find in order left to right Jupiter, Saturn, and Venus.

Since all three of these objects are some of the brightest in the night sky behind the moon no matter where you are in cities or the countryside you should be able to see it, that is pending how the weather conditions are.

While you are looking up as well the Geminds Meteor shower peaks on Monday and Tuesday.

This meteor shower can be sun best prior to sunrise in the direction of the Gemini constellation. In darker areas it is possible to see up to 150 meteors per hour during this even.

Remember if you see any of these interesting sights on the First Coast take a photo and share them with us on our First Coast News Weather Watchers Facebook Page.
