King tides will impact low lying areas around the First Coast.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — With a full moon on September 17 coupled with typically higher than normal high tides in the fall, "king tides" are expected First Coast and Southeast Georgia.

King tides refer to the cycles that are the highest of the season and can cause nuisance flooding in low lying areas around tidally impacted bodies of water.

All of this paired with an already very wet September, the ingredients are in place for some localized flooding. Areas that see the most flooding during high tide events should monitor rising waters through the rest of the week.
