In order to accommodate the flow of traffic heading north out of evacuation zones in Florida due to Hurricane Irma, southbound express lanes on I-75 have been reversed to northbound paths in Georgia.
The I-75 Florida to Georgia southbound express lanes are now headed north in Georgia only.
The Georgia Department of Transportation released the following statement on its website Friday morning:
Due to extra heavy traffic on I-75 northbound coming up from Florida, the normal schedule for the 75 South Express lane has been revised. The lane are currently operating northbound and will remain that way until further notice to accommodate the evacuee traffic.
Florida SunPass holders are reminded that they can use the Georgia Express Lanes as the two systems are interoperable.
