FEMA approves over $1 billion for homeowners, renters affected by 2024 hurricanes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved over $1 billion in disaster assistance for homeowners and renters affected by Hurricanes Milton, Helene, and Debby.

The breakdown of approved funds is as follows:

  • $449.2 million for Hurricane Milton
  • $516.6 million for Hurricane Helene
  • $49.8 million for Hurricane Debby

These funds are part of FEMA’s Individual Assistance program, which provides aid to those whose homes were damaged or destroyed. Homeowners or renters can apply to receive money for basic home repairs, personal property losses, and other disaster-related expenses that are uninsured or underinsured.

Applications can be submitted online at DisasterAssistance.gov or through the FEMA app. For those who prefer to apply by phone, the FEMA helpline is available at 800-621-3362.
