TAMPA, Fla. — The impacts of Hurricane Helene are being felt in the Tampa Bay area as it continues its path toward Florida's Big Bend Region.
As the storm passes through the Gulf of Mexico, it's expected to bring storm surge and flooding to the region. The 10 Tampa Bay team is working to keep track of where flooding is or was happening.
Manatee County flooding
The Bradenton Police Department reported flooding at Riverview Boulevard and 21st Street West around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
Pinellas County flooding
St. Pete Police said the following areas are experiencing flooding: Venetian/Bayou Grande, Connecticut/Huntington, Delaware/Carson, 42nd Ave. S./4th St. S., 14th Ave. S./3rd St. S., the 2900 block of Coffee Pot Boulevard NE, 62nd Ave. N./Bayou Grande, Overlook and Shore Acres Blvd., 39th Ave. S./Sunrise Drive S.
Police also highlighted several neighborhoods as being flooded, including Shore Acres, Snell Isles, Venetian Isles, Coquina Key, and Weedon Island. Emergency officials have closed access to Shore Acres and Snell Isles due to street flooding.
St. Pete Police gave an update just before 10 a.m., urging residents to not drive through high water.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office around 1 p.m. said its seeing flooding in Madeira Beach and Indian Shores.
The City of Treasure Island reported flooding in the Sunset Beach neighborhood Thursday morning.
The City of Clearwater also reported flooding Thursday morning, urging residents in evacuation Zone A to seek higher ground.
Clearwater Police at around 11:45 a.m. reported waves crashing over the seawall at Clearwater Beach.
Around noon, Clearwater Police also said to avoid Bayshore from Drew Street and the Courtney Campbell Causeway due to high water.
Clearwater Police at around 2 p.m. continued to warn drivers to avoid high water spots. They urged residents to stay indoors as the wind picks up.
Hillsborough County flooding
The Tampa Police Department is urging residents to not drive on flooded streets saying, "Turn around, don't drown."
Sarasota County flooding
10 Tampa Bay's Nick Volturo was in the St. Armand's Circle area in Sarasota, where streets are seeing floodwaters.
Sarasota County said that Indian Mound Park was flooded as of 1:15 p.m.
Sarasota County shared an update at 1:30 p.m. showing flooding in Siesta Key.
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office shared photos of street flooding in Venice, Florida at the Esplanade/Tarpon Center Drive and Higel Marine Park.
